Rev. James "Freddie" Bishop, age 66, of Marshall passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Mission Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Bishop Snyder. He was a US Army Veteran, a Minister and a retired employee of the NC DOT.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosalind Payne Bishop; daughters, Regina Bishop, Julie Worley (Johnny); his granddaughters which were his pride and joy, Gracy, Jaycee and Jade; special brother in laws, Kenneth Payne (Brenda), Emory Payne (Ruby); sisters, Connie Miller, Patricia Lively, Maria Beahm; brother, Kenny Jay Snyder all of Florida.

He became a Child of God in 1981 and an Ordained Minister in 1990. He pastored many churches until 2017, when a stroke caused him to have to retire. Being a pastor and preaching Gods word was his passion.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 26, 2024, 5:00 – 7:00PM at Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 27, at 1:00 pm with Revs. Kenneth Payne and Cody Reece officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Zack Crowder, Matt Michell, Dewayne Tweed, Frankie White, Dean and Dale Bishop. Burial will follow in the Hunter Cemetery.
