Obituary

James Clyde Ray, 75, of 35 Flat Creek Church Road passed away Friday, August 08, 2014 at Missions Hospital St. Joseph Campus. He was born in Madison County to the late Maunt and Pansy Hensley Ray. James was an US Army veteran and retired N. C. Corrections Officer. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and a former chief ranger at Biltmore Estate. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Mildred Ballard Ray of the home, son, James David Ray of Hendersonville, sister, Brenda Reavis and husband Don of Weaverville, brother, Danny Ray and wife Kim of Barnardsville, three grandchildren, Jordan, Bailey and Madison Ray, nephews; Joseph Reavis and Mark Ray. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Flat Creek Baptist Church where he was a member. Reverends Brian Hanrahan and Stanley Peek will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be; Jordan and Mark Ray, Jeff and Lattie Ballard, Joseph Reavis, Steve Brown, Homer Revis and Mike Candler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 PM prior to the service.
