James Ferris Gregg, 76, of Weaverville, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the son of the late Ferris and Jettie Hale Gregg. He is also preceded in death by sisters, Carolyn Gregg and Marie Bowlin, and a brother, Robert Gregg.

James is survived by his daughter Jamie Gregg (Chris); sister, Eula Leighton, brother, Ronnie Gregg (Beverly); and a multitude of extended family.

James was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting for ginseng and gardening. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His daughter, Jamie, was his pride and joy, who he raised and loved unconditionally. She was his shadow, wherever he was, she was right beside him.

A memorial service will be held at 11am Friday, May 3, 2024, at Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service. Reverends Chris Ferguson and Tim Burnette will officiate.
