James Allen "Doc" Sams, 88, of Mars Hill, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020, at John F Keever Solace Center. He is a lifelong resident of Madison County, the son of the late James Fuller and Mattie Marshbanks Sams, and a US Army Veteran.

James is survived by his wife Wanda Forrester Sams; daughter, Patty Carnell (Andy) of Kentucky,step daughter, Sharon English; step son, Allen English; grandson, Jason Davis; and great grandson, Andrew Davis.

A Graveside service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Roy Shepherd will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 at Blue Ridge Funeral Service.
