IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane
Waldrup
October 26, 1944 – December 22, 2015
Jane Randolph Waldrup, 71, passed away Tuesday, December 22 after a long illness. Originally from Mars Hill, Jane called Candler home as this is where she raised her children, walked her dog, and entertained her friends and neighbors. Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Lot and Lois Randolph, as well as her children's father, Stan Waldrup.
She is survived by her sister, Judy Raley and husband Bill of Waynesville and a brother Gary Randolph and wife Debi of Myrtle Beach, SC. She also leaves behind her children: Chris Waldrup (Katherine) of Tracy City, TN – whom she gave her gently spirit, love of animals, and love of learning; and Becky Johnston (Dan) of Lewisville, NC – whom she gave her quick wit, her love of the theater, and her lasagna recipe. Most importantly, she'd love to tell you about her precious Grandchildren: Alex (who turned 11 on Tuesday), Elizabeth (9) and Julianna (2 ½).
Jane graduated from Western Carolina University with a BS in Mathematics and pursued a career in Information Technology, first at American Enka, then at Dayco, which later became Day International. She enjoyed her profession, but loved her co-workers. She spent her free time traveling, going to movies, and making sure her already clean home was even more so. A naturally social person, Jane had many lifelong friendships and enjoyed visiting friends and family both locally and abroad.
Services for Jane will be at 11:00am Saturday, December 26 in Hominy Baptist Church. Reverend Mary Caldwell will officiate. The family will receive friends before the service at 10:00 am. A private family burial will take place after the service at the Duck Family Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Blue Ridge Funeral Services. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please take your loved ones to the movies and treat them to popcorn (with butter) and a Coke. Alternatively, she would be honored if you would take time to clean out and organize your refrigerator. Her life was one of beauty, and she would hope that your refrigerator could mirror that. Finally, she would be touched if you would take time to think of the places you've always wanted to travel, find someone you love to go with you, and book that trip. Jane's life was full of all three of these and she would be honored if yours was too. (A more traditional remembrance of her life would be making a donation to The Duck Family Cemetery Fund c/o Jerry Briggs, PO Box 6422, Asheville, NC 28816; or to your local Alzheimer's Association Chapter)
