Janie Nash Boyd, 81, of Marshall, passed away peacefully, February 9, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on August 26, 1944, on Little Pine in Madison County. Janie was the third oldest child born of 8 children to the late Walter, and Mamie Price Nash. There were 4 boys and 4 girls born and raised on the head of Little Pine, now known as The Preserve at Little Pine.
Janie loved flowers and animals and loved to raise a garden as long as she was able to. She also loved to cook and was excellent at it. She worked for Madison County Schools for 35 years in the cafeteria. Janie's passion was cooking for her family, especially during the holidays.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Linda Shelton and Salley Cook, and brother, Buddy Nash.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Boyd of Marshall; sons, Jeffrey Boyd (Tammy) of Marshall; sister, Alma Swetonic (Joseph) of Gilbrator, MI; brothers, Billy Nash (Deb) of Weaverville, Don Nash (Carolyn) of Marshall and Edward Nash of Alexander; several nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Janice Buckner of Marshall.
The family would like to express a thank you to the Walnut Community Fire Department First Responders, Madison EMS 5, MAMA Helicopter, the ICU K400 floor nurses and doctors at Mission Hospital, and the Palliative Care Team for their caring hearts during this difficult time.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 13, 2026, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Dennis Shepard, and Rev. Jimmie Dean Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bowman-Rector Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Billy Buckner, John Caldwell, Thomas Cook, Roy Davis, Chad Payne, Zyndall Roberts.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
