JC Willis, age 86, of Weaverville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 15, 2023 at the Solace Center. He was born on July 18, 1937, in Yancey County to the late William Brasky, and Thelma Metcalf Willis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Crowther; sisters, Hazel Lee Willis, Margie Brock, Irene Griffin, Cheryl Rector, and Naomi McPeters; and a brother, James Willis.

JC retired as a supervisor with Davey Tree Company. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Chauncey Willis; daughters, Donna Willis, and Tela Peterson; sisters, Linda McDaris (Bruce), and Juanita Buckner (Gerald); brother, Harold Willis (Alpha); 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth Crooke, Layciea Vagas, River Crowther, Brandon Peterson, Kyle Peterson, and George Penland; and 5 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
