Jean Lunsford Barnett, 81, passed away on December 31, 2025. She was born, November 2, 1944, in Madison County, and a resident of Barnardsville for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Ralph A. and Lockie Worley Lunsford.

Jean enjoyed playing the piano, singing, reading her Bible and solving crossword puzzles. She retired from Ohio Electric Motors and was a member of Pisgah Forest Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Velma Payne, Nora Hensley, and Ruth Stines; brothers, Kenneth D. Lunsford, Howard C. Lunsford, Ralph Lunsford Jr., and Loy Lunsford.

Jean is survived by her husband of 36 years, Danny Leonard Barnett; sons, Timothy B. Banks (Rebecca), and Mark J. Banks (Connie); step daughters, Tammy Kuykendall (Terry), Wanda Montgomery (William), and Rema Cash (Rick); sisters, Christine Wilson (Wayne), Mary Lou Ponder; grandchildren, Heather Roberts (Jeremy), Aaron Banks (Alyssa), Khloe Banks, Amanda Harwood, Rachel Harwood, Caleb Morgan, Samantha Tackett, Camrick Cash, Keith Ball, Dakota Barnett, Derrick Stewart, and James Stewart; and several great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 4, 2026 in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverends Dean Metcalf and Lee Gosnell will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Saturday, January 3, 2025, at the funeral home.
