MARSHALL: Jena Lee Wallin Buckner of Hopewell Community passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late Carl and Minnie Wallin. She was also preceded in death by her husband J. D. Buckner. Jena Lee worked at the Madison County Board of Education for ten years. She retired after twenty eight years as the first female Register of Deeds of Madison County. After her retirement she worked part-time at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and a member of Madison County Women's Democrat Club.
Surviving are two daughters; Caroleen Hodge of Brevard and Penny Buckner of the home, twin brother, J. C. Wallin and wife Selma of Marshall, grandchildren; Jenni Hodge, Stephen Hodge, Jonathan Davis and Jesse Davis, nephew and nieces; Jonathan Wallin, Gail L. Sears, Carla Schneider and Hanna Hardin, specials friends; Peggy Balding and Jenny Light and her beloved dogs; Molly and Cammy.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2011 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Mars Hill. Rev. Jimmy Dean Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in Bowman-Rector Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be; Tim Capps, Eddie Fox, Owen Edwards, Jonathan Wallin, Tim Hodge and Cody Fisher. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 1:00 pm prior to the service.
