Jenell Ovedia Ballard Fender, 85, of Mars Hill, passed away, August 17, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Affie and Lear English Ballard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Oakley Fender; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Fender; sisters, Ava Carter, and Edna Jamerson; and brother, Raleigh Ballard.

Mrs. Fender is survived by her son, Ragan Fender; brother, Wade Ballard, granddaughter, Natalie Carter (Brent); great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, and Josiah Carter; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Upper Laurel Baptist Church. Reverend Cline Junior Hensley. will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
