Jerome Carl "Jerry" Heider, 79, of Mars Hill, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Arthur and Jean Medema Heider. Mr. Heider was also preceded in death by his wife Sheryl Heider who died in 2021; a son, Jerome Frank Heider; and a brother, Robert Heider.

He is survived by siblings, Arthur Heider, Donna Rowland, Denise Orzechowski, and Greg Heider; stepsons, Kevin, Daniel, and Matthew Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired tax preparer with Heider Tax Service. He was a member of Vision Missionary Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday March 3, 2023, at Vision Missionary Baptist Church. Reverends Cliff Franks and Rev. Nelson Ponder will officiate. Burial will follow in Middle Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
