Jerry Briggs, born in 1943, passed away Saturday morning, December 10, 2022, at his home. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph W. Briggs and Ava Duck Briggs and his wife Joyce Ray Briggs. He grew up on a small farm near Mars Hill, NC, graduated from Mars Hill High School in 1961, and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1965 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Jerry began his engineering career with American Enka Corporation, which was later acquired by BASF Corporation. He retired from BASF Corporate Engineering in 1999, and enjoyed a lengthy retirement restoring antique Chevrolets, gardening, Bluegrass music, and sports.

He is survived by members of his wife Joyce's family and by his good friend Mary Farley. At his request no formal service is planned. A private burial in the Duck Family Cemetery, Mars Hill, NC will be scheduled. Blue Ridge Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
