Jessie Briggs Nesbitt, 94, died on September 29, 2021. Jessie was born on July 22, 1927, to the late Roscoe and Roberlie Fender Briggs. Jessie moved to Asheville as a young woman to begin her working journey, taking time out after marriage t be a devoted mom. When all three children were in school Jessi joined the first major campaign for Memorial Mission Hospital, follow by medical related positions through retirement from the VA Medical Center. Jessie was involved with her church and avidly supported years of school and sports activities. She was kind and generous with her time. Friends and neighbors were always welcomed in her home and often shared a meal, planned or not-a gracious Southern hostess. Jessie loved her family: she will be missed. In addition to her parents Jessie was preceded in death by siblings Ruthie, Ralph, Leonard, Hubert Macie Limer, Frankie Thomas, and Jean Flowers.

Jessie is survived by her daughters: Lynn Nesbitt Burns, Lee Nesbitt Madison, and son Larry Nesbitt (Crystal); much loved grandchildren: Ryan Burns, Zachary Nesbitt (daughter Elana), and Chelsea Madison Chang (Jayson and daughter Lena); sister Wanda English (Emerson), and brother Phillip Briggs.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 10:00am at Mars Hill Cemetery with Dr. Reverend Tommy Justus officiating.
