Obituary

Jim Ammons, 82, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Mr. Ammons was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Baccus Vernon and Georgia Lee Soesbee Ammons. He retired from Madison County EMS after 20 years of service and he farmed until his death. Mr. Ammons is also preceded in death by brothers, Willard, Luther, Harold, infant brother, Ernest, and sister, Geneva Marjorie. He is survived by his wife of 57 years. Norma Jean Proffitt Ammons; children, Leigh Ellison (Billy), Teresa Worley (Harold), Jimmy Ammons (Beth), Jeffery Ammons (April), and Teleda Waldrop (Terry); brother, Carroll Ammons; grandchildren; Amanda Coffey (Charles), Hannah, Kyle and Tanner Ellison, Jason Worley (Krystal), Patrick Worley (Haley), Adam Worley (Lauren), Chase Ammons, Cade Ammons (Veronica), Madison and Ireland Ammons, Caleb and Gabriel Waldrop, Bailey and Alexis Ammons, Cody McElroy, Kristen Gilliam (Jason) and Brandon Ellison (Megan); 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, April 25, 2016, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Billy Murray, Ken Parker and Eddie Fox will officiate. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 Sunday at the funeral home.
