Jimmie Daryl
Metcalf
September 21, 1955 – May 1, 2026
Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
With heavy hearts yet joyful hope, we celebrate the life of Jimmie Daryl Metcalf, who went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 1, 2026. While our hearts grieve his passing, we find peace in knowing he is resting in the presence of our Savior.
Daryl was born on September 21, 1955, in Buncombe County, and from an early age, lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. A devoted follower of Christ, he carried a strong testimony and walked daily with the Lord.
Known for his strong work ethic, Daryl was never afraid of hard work. Whether providing for his family, helping a neighbor/friend, or serving in the church, Daryl gave his all with a willing heart. His hands were rarely still, and his life was a reflection of dedication, perseverance, and quiet strength.
Daryl deeply loved his family and treasured every moment spent with them. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Sheila Ann Metcalf, his children Jammie Metcalf (Joyce), Mendie Deweese, Ricki Barlett (Terry). His grandchildren, TJ Metcalf, Khloey Roberts, Avary Deweese, Axell Chandler, Tonya Metcalf, and Tucker Bartlett; sister, Carolyn Smith; brothers, Don and Royce Metcalf. A special nephew, John Metcalf (Danielle), who was more like a son, who will carry on his legacy of faith, love, and hard work.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Leslie King Metcalf; brothers, Charles and Johnny Metcalf.
Daryl attended Reynolds Baptist Church where he found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others. His life was a living testimony of God's goodness and a reminder of what it means to live with purpose and faith.
He often said he was "a winner either way," and those words now bring comfort to all who knew him. Whether he remained here with those he loved or went home to be with the Lord, he knew the outcome was victory. Today, we take peace in knowing he has received that eternal victory and is at home in glory.
Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that we will meet again.
"Well done, good and faithful servant" - Matthew 25:23
