September 20, 1945 – January 1, 2024
Jock Douglas Fender, 78, of Mars Hill, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Chauncey and Lear Davis Fender. Jock is a member of Mt. Bethel Freewill Baptist Church and retired from H & M Construction. He was an avid fisherman who loved the mountains and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Jock is preceded in death by a son, Eddie Dewayne Fender, and a brother, Larry Fender.
Jock is survived by his wife, Linda Gail Fender; sons, Douglas Fender (Sandy), Donald Fender (Jennifer), and Darian Fender (Shannon); sisters, Francis Chastain (Harold), and Genell Honeycutt (Jon); daughter-in-law, Kelly Fender; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday, January 5, 2024, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Mike Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow in Holcombe Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11am-1pm Friday before the funeral.
