John Anthony Ray, 68, of Weaverville went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2022. John was a devout Christian – serving as a deacon at Celebration Church in Weaverville, as well as a Gideon. He worked for the business his father started and his family owned since 1977, Ray's Paving. John is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Obera Silvers Ray. John is leaving behind the loves of his life – his family.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years: Brenda Ray; his son: John Ray (Amy); his daughters: Carrie Martin (Michael) and Melissa Odom (Jason); his brothers: Mike Ray (Holly) and Tommy Ray (Patsy); grandchildren: Amber Wilson (Jason), Heather Bodford (Creston), Joanna Odom, Jason Odom, Isaac Ray, Michael Martin, Elijah Ray and Gabriel Martin; as well as his great grandchild: Daisy Bodford.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 6, 2022, at 2:00 pm in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Jim Moore and Reverend Hargus Cornett will officiate. Burial will follow at West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm.
