Johnny Grant Boone, age 76, passed away on Saturday January 6, 2024. He was born on December 4, 1947 in Madison County, to the late James Arthur Boone and Connie Waldrup Boone. Johnny was a US Army veteran, having served in Vietnam where he earned a bronze star and two commendation medals.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, David E., Ronnie L., and Timmy D. Boone; a stepdaughter, Connie Sizemore; and a brother, Novile Boone.
Johnny was survived by his wife, Mary Anders Boone; stepfather, Willie Crawford; daughter, Becky Boone; son, Ricky Boone (Melissa); mother of his children, Brenda Laney; brothers, Monroe Boone (Lissa), Harlon Boone (Jane), Robert Reed (Mary Ann), Roger Boone (Diane), Ronnie Crawford (Elaine), Michael Crawford (Brenda); grandchildren, Kirsten Boone Cochran (Jonah), Tristen Williams (Ashley DePew), Kaitlyn Gaddis, Zachary Boone, Anthony Shane Gaddis, and Summer Powell; great granddaughter, Victoria Jean Cochran his "Little Bit"; a sister-in-law, Janie Boone; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Along with being a man of great faith, Johnny was a loving father and grandfather. He loved spending time at the lake fishing and driving his tractor. He loved telling stories over his cup of coffee with family and friends and always leant a helping hand. He also enjoyed taking rides in his old 1968 Ford truck and reaving that engine to make the muffler "rumble". He will be truly missed by "all his girls", family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday January 13, 2024, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service.
