Johnny Lynn Norton, 56, of 200 Lance Avenue, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011. He was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County. He was a son of, the late Carl Lee and Nellie Mae Cody Norton Sr. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; Raymond Hurst, Carl Lee Norton Jr. and Walter Dewight "Mickey" Norton. He was a former Mayor of Hot Springs and had recently been elected town alderman. Johnny had served on the Hot Springs Fire Department for 37 years. Surviving are his wife, Abigail Wood Norton, sons; Eric Norton and Josh (Ashely) Norton both of Hot Springs, sister, Ann Wood, brother, Boyd Norton, grandson, Carter Raymond Norton and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2011at Solid Rock Full Gospel Tabernacle, Hot Springs. Revs Larry Arrowood, Mickey Church and Jimmy White will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Shawn Candler, Mark Snelson, Gary Roy, Brian Mixon, Alan Fowler, James Harwood, Stephen Gahagan and Donnie Green. The family will receive friends from 5 – 9 PM Saturday at Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Mars Hill.
