Joyce Penland Pike, age 68, of Alexander, left this world for a far better one on May 7, 2024. She was born in Buncombe County on November 27, 1955. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Grover Lee and Mary Ellen Bridges Penland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Carroll Pike, whom she missed greatly every single day.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Mary Beth Pike and Kim Boyd; her son-in-law, J.J. Boyd; her brother, Billy Penland; and his wife, Ladatha. She adored her grandchildren, Avery and Jaxon Boyd, who became her new reason for being and truly lit up her world. Joyce also held a special place in her heart for her great-niece, Sabrina Treadway, and family friend, Ellie Silvers, both of whom were very dear to her. Joyce formerly worked at Burlington Industries, where she made many friends that lasted a lifetime.

Joyce loved horses, enjoyed bird watching, reading, coloring, and especially loved fishing, finding joy in the simple pleasures. Above all else, Joyce loved being a wife and a mother to her girls more than anything else in the world.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will follow at Flint Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
