J.R. McSwain Davis, 78, passed away on July 23, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1948, to the late Lloyd and Jean Shetley Davis. J.R. was a US Army Veteran. He was an avid carpenter and enjoyed spending time with his friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Davis, Elizabeth Huntley, and Edna Hylton.

He is survived by a brother James Davis (Dana) and several family members who all knew what they meant to him.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverend Junior Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in Freedom Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
