Judith Marietta "Judie" King, 86, passed away on May 11, 2026, at Madison Health and Rehabilitation in Mars Hill, NC. Judie was born May 22, 1939, in Walnut, NC, to the late Mary Ann Ramsey Henderson and Edgar William "Skeeter" Henderson. She was preceded in death by her son, Tracy Duane King; her sister, Sherry Annette Henderson; her brothers, Michael Dennis Henderson and Eddie Sloan Henderson.

Judie was a graduate of Walnut High School and Western Carolina University. She loved teaching and continued in that profession for over 40 years, the majority at Clyde A. Erwin High School in Asheville, NC. Judie was a life-long member of Walnut Presbyterian Church.

Judie is survived by her sister, Nancy Henderson Meadows, of Arden, NC; brother, Stephen Lawrence Henderson and wife, Gay, of Mars Hill, NC; sister-in-law, Judy Slagle Henderson of Fletcher, NC; niece, Shelley Lynn Henderson; nephews, Shane Eugene Meadows (Lisa), Nicholas Stephen Meadows (Heidi), Mark Henderson (Lisa); great nephews, Gavin Alexander Henderson and Michael William Pierce Wheeler; and great nieces, Sloan Avery Henderson and Harper Rose Meadows.

A memorial for Judie will be held at 11 am. Saturday, May 23, 2026, at in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service in Mars Hill, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Walnut Cemetery.
