Obituary

The Mountains of both heaven and Appalachia thundered Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024 when Karen Kay Henderson was welcomed into God's Kingdom.

A daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Fay Hille Henderson, she was a strong fiercely independent woman of God who spent her moments here with us sharing His love and His will. She used her "Karen Powers" to advocate for those she loved. When she loved you, she loved hard and held tight. She was a giver by nature and was always trying to find ways to help her loved ones and her church family at Calvary Worship Center.

Karen worked in many industries as a Human Resource Professional, retiring from the city of Asheville in 2023. She worked very hard to receive her Bachelors degree from Mars Hill University.

Karen was the lady you go to for advice, guidance, and prayer. You could always rely on her to be there if she was able. She was a true servant of the Lord, and her loved ones admired and cherished these amazing gifts she shared with them.

Her children Amanda Elaine Cloyd and Christopher James Cloyd (Crystal) always knew she was there for them and tried her best to give them everything they needed even when times were hard. They didn't go a day without, because she fought so hard for them. Both Amanda and Chris are amazing and loving adults because of her strong will and loving spirit.

She will be watching over all of those who remain: her sister, Tammy Ray; sister-in-law, Donna Henderson who was her late brother Bill's wife; and her sweet

grandchildren Elijah, Miriam and Caide Cloyd.

Karen also loved taking care of animals and left behind her sweet pups, Pearl and Jasper. She loved her dogs so much; they filled her with such joy and happiness.

May she rest in the Lord's Arms.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 23, 2025 in Calvary Worship Center Church of God in Marshall, NC. Her memorial service will follow the reception at the church.
