Mrs. Kathleen Elizabeth Flynn Smith, 70, of Marshall, NC passed away on September 12, 2022, at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Jeanette Flynn. Kathleen was also preceded in death by two sisters: Lani Vaughn and Cheryl Mooney; and two brothers: Jim and Sydney Cook. Kathleen was a quilter by trade mastering the craft and teaching the art of handmade quilts.

Surviving Kathleen are her loving husband: Michael Smith; her children: Heather Mahmoud and her husband Anmmar and Sean "Crowe" McKnight; three sisters: Yvonne Keys, Julie Barron, and Penny Torske; three brothers: Glenn Anderson, Lee Anderson, and Yuton Gonpo; and five grandchildren: Joseph Taylor, Emma Mahmoud, Robin Bliss-McKnight, Samilia McKnight, and Willie McKnight.

A memorial service will be planned later.
