Kermit Warren Ponder, age 76, of Mars Hill passed away Sunday September 10, 2023. He is the son of the late Lloyd Warren and Estie Crowder Ponder. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon, Zade, Mack, and Glenn Ponder. Kermit was a graduate of Mars Hill High School and a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the Carpenters Softball Team.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Wilson Ponder; daughter, Danielle Griffin (Jeff): son, Tim Ponder (Lora): sister, Louise Paulson; brothers, Ray Ponder and Dewayne Ponder: grandchildren, Jennifer Maynor (Curtis), Michael Ponder, and Hunter Griffin: great grandchildren, Brielle and Brooklyn Maynor and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Upper Laurel Baptist Church. Reverends Junior Hensley and Jake Fender will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 – 7 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Blue Ridge Funeral Service.
