Obituary

Kyera MaShae Byas, known as Bug by her loved ones, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024. She went to be with her Lord at the age of 17. Born on April 12, 2006, she is lovingly remembered by her mother and father, Bryan and Shae Lynn Coates Byas, siblings, Shelby Byas (Ellijah Tipton), Kannon Coates, Kason Coates, Knox Coates, and Kooper Coates, Grandparents, Arvol Coates (Poppy) and Joyce Coates (Nana), Pat Byas (Mamaw Pat), Uncles, Harvie Coates, David Byas, Special friends, Adriyana Moreno, Ryan Foley, Tate Jones, Macean Metcalf, Clay Hilemon, Trent (P-nut) Jones, Tanner Blackwell-Jones, Bly Wolfe, Seth Metcalf, Jackson Shipman, Jackson Reed, and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Paul Byas (Papaw).

Kyera left a lasting impact on Madison, Buncombe, Haywood, and Hendersonville counties, with her infectious smile and her bubbly personality, she never met a stranger. She had a special talent for making sure that everyone felt like family. Kyera's love knew no bounds; those fortunate enough to be enveloped by it will forever cherish it.

Kyera was a true ray of sunshine. She served as the Editor-in-Chief of the MHS yearbook during her junior and senior years, leaving an undeniable mark on her classmates. Kyera also participated as a cheerleader with Fearless Athletics. Her vivacious spirit, heart, love, and passion for cheer were contagious. She was a standout flyer, tumbler, and dancer on her team.

Kyera's heart belonged to her family. She was her daddy's little girl and her momma's mini-me. Her happiest moments were amidst the chaos of her loved ones. Beyond blood ties, Kyera had a remarkable ability to make anyone feel cherished. She loved her siblings in a way that only a sibling can, smothering them with an infuriating amount of love while also arguing as a sister does.

Kyera's bright light will continue to shine through all of us, in our hearts and memories. Her legacy of love and joy will forever be cherished. And as Kyera would always say "Goodbye, and I love you."

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Madison High School. Reverends Brian Coates, Jackson Ledford, and Nick Coates will officiate. Burial will follow at Arrington Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11am-2pm Saturday at the school.
