Dorsey Lane Baker, 84, of Weaverville, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was born on January 6, 1941 in Madison County to the late Dorsey and Beulah Buckner Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Marcum Baker who died in 1993.

Lane was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall. He retired as a truck driver from Carolina Freight, worked with the Buncombe County EOC for 10 years, and was a former volunteer at Jupiter Fire Department. Lane was a Freemason for nearly 62 years and a member of both Blackmer Masonic Lodge #170 AF-AM, and Vance Masonic Lodge #293 AF-AM.

Lane is survived by his loving wife of 25 yrs, Lorraine Kent Baker; son, Nathan Baker and Shawn Burleson (Margie); grandchildren, Jacob Burleson (Bri) and Charli Burleson; great grandson, Cooper Lane Burleson.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday July 12, 2025 in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service with Reverend Jerry Jamerson officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be held at the funeral home. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park with Reverend Larry Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm prior to the services at the funeral home.
