Lanny Lacree Chandler, age, 77, of Mars Hill, went home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2024. He was born on September 28, 1946, in Buncombe County to the late Leroy and Bertha English Chandler.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers; Arlyon, Ronald and Donald Chandler; a brother-in-law; Robert Austin.

Daddy enjoyed his days walking the fence line of his Chandler Creek property and "piddling" with all of his animals. Like Noah, he had two of everything it seemed. Farming wasn't work to him as he enjoyed it so much. Daddy was quiet most of the time but when he spoke, his words had meaning. Daddy loved his family and showed it in so many ways. Daddy has a multitude of friends, a lot of which enjoyed his ribbing while behind the register at Smileys. Daddy had a mischievous side and enjoyed a good joke and there were plenty of those at Smileys.

Daddys greatest love was for his Wife of 58 years. Together they created a loving home and raised 5 children. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wilma Jean Franklin Chandler; children, Chip Chandler (Tanya), Angie Chandler, Brenda Wyatt (Ophard), Vickie Ferguson (Randy), Linda Franklin (P.J. Shelton); siblings, Larry Chandler (Barbara), Jobie Chandler (Jennie), Genell Austin; grandchildren, Logan and Taya Chandler, Jasmine Brown (Levi), Scarlette Shipman, David Clark (Shelly), Chelsea Ferguson (Chelsea Mosley), Caleb Ferguson, Lee Franklin (Lezlie); and great grandchildren, Cason, Knox and Cree Brown.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday July 18, 2024, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverend Ken Parker will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
