Metcalf
June 11, 1952 – April 30, 2020
Larry Dean Metcalf, age 67, went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Thursday, April 30, 2020. He is the son of the late Bart and Frances Hensley Metcalf. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters Jeanette King and Janice Buckner. Larry was a Volunteer Fireman with Weaverville Fire Dept. EMT with Asheville Area Rescue and retired from MB Haynes.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Revonda Banks Metcalf; daughters, Deanna Fortner (Lloyd), Carrie Brown (Ricky) and Elizabeth Anders (Brandon); sisters, Mabel Reece, Alberta Webb, Mafre Cole and Reba Metcalf; brother, Robert Metcalf; grandchildren, Charlie and Melody Anders, Susanna and Maverick Brown; special brother-in-law, Doug Banks; a special nephew Brendon; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Metcalf Family/State Line Cemetery. Reverends Harley Bullman and Robert Reynolds will officiate.
Larry was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church and loved to hunt. He recorded with several southern gospel groups at Wes Sound Studio and Dawn Studios. His pride and joy were singing and picking music with his girls, their husbands, family and friends. He had a deep love for the Lord and had a strong testimony and enjoyed witnessing to others.
