Reverend Lawrence Eugene Smith, 89, of Weaverville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 2, 2022. He was the son of the late Alex and Marjorie Smith. Lawrence is also preceded in death by two of his sisters: Anna Ramsey and Martha Hensley.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 65 years: Betty Shell Smith; his daughters: Debra Ayers (Gerald), Pamela Smith; sister: Deana Penix (Marshall Lee), brother-in-law: Lane Ramsey; grandchild: Shane Ayers; as well as 3 grand dogs: Coco, Kobia and Kiyanah.

A funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Larry Coates and Howard Wheeler will officiate the service. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the chapel.
