Reverend Leonard Cecil Hopps, Jr., 81, of Mars Hill passed away, November 30, 2024. He was the son of the late Leonard and Violet Meadows Hopps.

Cecil served in churches in Madison, Buncombe, Henderson, Rutherford and Yancey Counties. He also served as a Chaplin for the United States Air Force, the Mars Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the jail ministry of the Madison County Sheriff's office.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Linda McMahan Hopps; sons, Len Hopps (Amy) and Bryan Hopps (Beverly); sister, Linda Shuford (Gary); grandchildren, Leslie Carpenter (Leon), Lauren Boyd (Aaron), Kevin, Justin and Katlyn Hopps and Jeffrey Britt (Beth); several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 1pm Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Brother Michael Garrison will officiate. The burial will follow in the Paint Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
