Obituary

Linda Gail Lunsford Martin, 73, of Barnardsville, NC, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, and went home to be with the Lord. She was born on July 15, 1953, in Asheville, NC.

Linda was a woman who found joy in the simple things that made life special. She had a deep love for her family and treasured the time spent with those she loved. She was a devoted Tar Heel fan and enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams. Music was another special part of Linda's life, and she could often be found enjoying the timeless songs of The Beatles, Elvis Presley, and The Beach Boys. She also loved settling in to watch a good movie and simply enjoying the moment.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Sally Lunsford, her brother Jerry Davis; and daughter, Christine Martin.

Linda leaves behind a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Calvin Glen Martin, whom she married in 1970; her children, Renee Robinson (Joe), Michael Martin (Jenny), April Williams (Darin), and Brian Martin (Cheryl); and her grandchildren, Christina Allison (Nathan), Josh Robinson, Austin, Malachi, Isaac, and Isaiah Lanning, Abigail, Samantha, Aleisha, Brynn, Hope and Hunter Martin.

Linda's life was a gift to the people who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, laughter, memories, and the countless little moments she shared with her family will continue to live on through the generations. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and resting in the loving arms of the Lord.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Reverend David Crowder will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service, PO Box 27, Mars Hill, NC 28754.
