Louise Cutshall Rice, 78, of Mars Hill, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Born on August 16, 1948, Louise was the daughter of the late Baxter "Black" and Ida Norton Cutshall.

Louise was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished "granny" whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. As a dedicated homemaker, she took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will forever be treasured. Above all, Louise cherished the time spent with her family, and the love she so freely gave will remain in their hearts for generations to come.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Herman Cutshall.

Louise will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Oscar Rice; her daughters, Darlene Hayes, Mary Carver, and Melinda Rice; and her sons, Wade "Bud" Rice (Marlene), Bryan Rice (Vickie), and Wayne Rice (Shellie); sisters, Vergie Chandler, Pansy Norton, and Bernice Chapman; grandchildren, Laura Bailey (Wayne), Hannah Proffitt (JP), Ashley Kitchen (John), Holly Rice (Tubbs), Kayla Rice, Peanut Rice, Brianna Chandler (Gage), Autumn Shepherd (Josh), Elijah Rice (Alyssa), Jeremiah Russom, Ayla Russom (Michael), Nathaniel Carver, Matthew Grooms (Ashley), Josh Grooms, Debbie McLennan (John), and Brandon Hayes (Paige); and great grandchildren, Rowan, Reagan, and Aaliyah, Jaden, Jason and Haven, Adrian, Micah, Wyatt, Skyla and Lennox, Ariel, John Robert and Jasmine, Brielle, Oliver.

A funeral service to celebrate Louise's life will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday October 14, 2026, in the chapel of Bakers Creek Church of God on Spillcorn. Reverends Elijah Rice and Wade Rice will officiate. Burial will follow in Norton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday October 13, 2026 at the church.
