Lucas was born February 20, 2005 in Cuilapa, Guatemala. After an 18 month-long adoption process, Matt and Morgen Yeakley were able to adopt him and bring him home to Marshall, NC where he lived for all of his life.

Lucas was a very special, sensitive soul with so much light and love in him. He also struggled mightily to live in this world with peace. It was too hard for him to stay here. On Monday, March 31st, 2025, he took his life.

We are so grateful that we had him with us for 20 years, and now, we will miss him forever. With all our hearts, we wish for him endless peace, and freedom from suffering.

Lucas is survived by his sisters, Quinn Yeakley of Marshall, NC, and Ruth Farrington of Sacramento, CA; parents, Matt and Morgen Yeakley of Marshall, NC; grandparents John Gebhards and Diana Krattuer of Newburgh, NY; Jim and Sharon Yeakley of Anthem, AZ; and Maggie and Chuck Roedema of South Port, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 5, 2025 in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service in Mars Hill, NC. A reception will follow until 4:00 pm. All is open to the public.
