IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Kathryn
Church
August 24, 1931 – October 24, 2025
Margaret Kathryn Smith Church, 94, of Weaverville, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family, Friday October 24, 2025. She was born August 24, 1931, to the late Zebulon Collins and Bertie Wallin Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Thana Arrowood and Louise Smith; brothers, Robert, Jimmy, Carroll, and Ronnie Smith.
Margaret was born in Weaverville on the family property where she lived all her life. She married her sweetheart, Preston Church, on February 11, 1956. They were married 69 years and 8 months, just shy of 70 years. Together they raised a loving, faithful, and devoted family.
Margaret worked as an assistant manager for Newberry's and was a floor supervisor for Mills Mfg. She was a talented quilter and seamstress, making her husband's suits and children's clothes. She was an excellent cook, providing for her family. Her molasses fruitcakes at Christmas time will surely be remembered. Margaret was a faithful and devoted Christian and was a member of Walnut Freewill Baptist Church for 39 years. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman, putting everyone ahead of herself daily.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Pastor Preston Church; daughters, Joy Sprinkle (Danny) and Gwen Ingle; sister, Rose Saunders; brother, Jackie Smith (Teresa); grandchildren, Toni Brosnan (Walter), Monica Knighten (Jamie), Jessica Cline (Hunter), Emily Bateman (JT), and Jordan Ingle (Kasey); great grandchildren, Taylor Gordon (Drew), Caroline Brosnan, Bryan Brosnan, Anna Cuthbertson (Justin), Ally and Autumn Knighten, Emma and Elijah Cline, Montana Bateman, and Grace Ingle; great great grandchildren, Garrett, Graham, Grayson, Alaina, Elijah, Ava, Eden, and Laylah; as well as several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to nurse Crystal and Well Care as well as the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills staff for all the love and care given.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, October 27, 2025, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverend Junior Metcalf will officiate. Burial will follow in the Tildon-Metcalf Cemetery, Mars Hill. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
