Marilyn Jean Van Gunst, age 80, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024 surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Henrietta Langeland, and her brother, Kenneth Langeland of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger Van Gunst, and her daughters, Sara Van Gunst (Amit Yashar), Kristin Jane Van Gunst (Paul Ruprecht), Andrea Van Gunst (Tim Gallaugher) and her grandchildren, Henry and Willa Gallaugher. Marilyn was an artist, a pianist, a teacher, a traveler and a friend.

She was sincere in all things with an enduring kindness, curiosity, and strength that lit the world around her. We will miss her every day.

A private graveside service will be held at West Memorial Park in Weaverville, North Carolina.
