Mary Lou Norton Shelton, 81, of the Spillcorn community, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late Oliver Jessie and Arthie Norton. In addition to her parents, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Clifton Shelton, son, Danny Shelton, and 3 sisters, Ida Cutshall Lou Hester Cutshaw, and Josephine Riddle.

Mary Lou was a loving mother and godly woman who had Christ-like love for everyone. She also loved traveling, reading, painting and gardening

She is survived by two sons, Dewayne Shelton (Jammie) and Scott Shelton (Rebecca); sister, Robbie Shelton, two brothers, Amos and Andy Norton; three grandchildren, David, Emma, and Adalyn Shelton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Spillcorn Church of God, of which she was devoted and faithful member. Reverends Eddie Roberts and Raymond Cantrell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shelton Mountain Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the church from 12pm Tuesday until 1pm Wednesday.
