Mattie Ellen Allman Jarvis, 79, of Mars Hill, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at home after an extended illness. She was born in Asheville, NC, having lived in Buncombe and Madison Counties most of her life. Mattie was the daughter of the late Wilburn M. Allman and Pansy McGalliard Davis. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wayne Jarvis, who passed away in 2004.

A dedicated nurse, Mattie graduated from nursing school in 1976 and poured her heart into surgical care for others over a 40-year career. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and music.

Mattie will be greatly missed by one daughter, Teresa Lynn Hass (Randy); granddaughter, Robin Alyse Jackson; grandson, James Michael Cross (Casey), and several great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, April 25, 2025, at California Creek Baptist Church. Reverend Josh McDevitt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Jarvis Cemetery.

Mrs. Jarvis will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service, at the church.
