Maxine Brown Harwood, 73, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, August 1st, 2022, at UNC Health Blue Ridge. Maxine was an artist and was known for her hand made rugs and birdhouses. She was born in Madison County to the late Bill and Martha Edwards Brown. Maxine was preceded in death by her daughter: Harolene Harwood; and three brothers: Charles, Carol, and William Brown.

Surviving Maxine are her husband: Harold Harwood; two daughters: Capri Carswell (James) and Cheryl Harwood (Andy); three sisters: Judy Brown Christopher, Joann Brown Cutshall, and Delie Brown Norton; six grandchildren: Robert Miller, Sabrina Jackson, Heather Smalley, Brandi Whisnant, Samantha Pledger, and Darus Rogers; and 9 great grandchildren: Hayden, Brigittte, Abigail, Avery, Jeremiah, Tice, Kamdyn, Conner, and Charlie.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11:00am in Brown Cemetery (Paint Fork Community) Mars Hill, NC. Rev. Harry Culbertson will officiate.
