Maxine Burleson Wheeler, age 84, of Weaverville went to be with the Lord at home surrounded by her loved ones, on July 5, 2024. She was born on June 24, 1940, in Buncombe County.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jerry Wheeler; her parents, W.G. and Lucille Bradley Burleson; her son, William Henry Briggs; and two sisters, Ruth Buckner and Jeanette Metcalf.

Maxine owned and operated Maxine's Monogramming. She enjoyed sewing, birdwatching, and tending to her plants.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Chisholm (Jeff); son, Jerry Wheeler (Wendy); brothers, Robert Burleson (Pat), and Lloyd Burleson: four grandchildren, Corey English (Daneila), Derek English (Rachel), Brooke Hudgins (Dalton), Zachary Wheeler (Grayce).

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday July 8, 2024, in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Reverends Keith Watkins and Jerry Wheeler will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Corey English, Derek English, Zachary Wheeler, Dalton Hudgins, Jeff Chisholm, and Steve Allman will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-2:00pm prior to the service at the church.
