Obituary

Maynard Bradburn, age 92 of Weaverville, passed peacefully on Saturday June 20, 2015. Mr. Bradburn was born in the community of Little Pine in Marshall, Madison County to the late Marion Bradburn and the late Nettie Payne Bradburn. A United States Navy World War II veteran, he served proudly as a Gunner's Mate in Europe and Asia Pacific, aboard Victory Class Ships such as the Juneau II, Opportune and Catawba. He survived several buzz bomb raids while delivering munitions from Boston to Antwerp, Belium. He also served in the armed guard after the war. He worked for Walbridge-Aldinger construction for 32 years before retiring where he enjoyed farming, wildlife and the Detroit Tigers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bradburn was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Macy Woody Bradburn who passed away in April of this year and his two sons Ronald in 1958 and Roger in 1997, along with nine brothers and sisters. Mr. Bradburn is survived by his sons Roy (Debbie) Bradburn, Randall Bradburn, Rex (Tammy) Bradburn, Rodney (Robin) Bradburn, daughter Rhonda (Richard) Belinc, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 7626 Highway 213 in Mars Hill. Blue Ridge Funeral Services in Mars Hill is honored to be caring for the Bradburn family.
