Merita Ann McKinney Pegg Dudley, age 88, passed away on December 12, 2023. She was born on October 14, 1935 in Buncombe County to the late Coy D. and Susie Lee Buckner McKinney.

Merita was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Garrett Pegg; a son, G.W. Pegg; and 3 brothers, Jerry, Clyde, and Billy McKinney.

Merita is survived by her husband, Robert D. Dudley; daughters, Revertia Pegg, and Darlene Ponder (Terryl); son, Steve Pegg (Maggie); sisters-in-law, Dorothy McKinney, and Betty McKinney; 4 grandchildren, Gidget Gomillion (Gary), Cameron Miller, Ricky Pegg (Jamie), and David Pegg (Kevin); and 5 great grandchildren, Serena and Sean Gomillion, Garrett, Macie and Greyson Pegg.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm on Friday December 15, 2023, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Roger Massey will officiate. A private burial will be at West Memorial Park.
