It is with a heavy heart today that we must inform all of you that Mike passed away last night following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Queens New York on April 25th 1940 and passed January 28th 2025 in Asheville North Carolina.

He is survived by; his wife Lynne Kaufman, his children Lisa Lawson and Michael Kaufman Jr, his grandchildren Michael Kaufman III, Joseph Kaufman, Lucky Kaufman, Ava Lawson, and Brooke Lawson, and his great grandchildren Michael Kaufman IV, Stella Kaufman, Colby Kaufman, Ava Harwood, Violet Kaufman, and Sunny Kaufman who will all miss him dearly.

Mike was many things. He was profoundly dedicated both at home and at work, working for Queens Group inc. for over 40 years. He was kind. He was a source of levity and of smiles and jokes. He was an endlessly funny and involved grandfather and great grandfather. He was a patriarch, a provider and always had advice whenever there was a need. He was an animal lover who enjoyed country life and the feel of the sunshine in spring. He was a man of spreadsheets and quiet habit.

But most of all, he was just our Pop. And we loved him dearly for it.

He was a stable fixture in so many ways and we will all be a bit lost without him as a guide. We will endeavor to carry forward all that he taught us, all the love he showed, and all the joy he brought to life.

In accordance with his wishes, there will not be a service. We ask only that you take a moment to remember the joy found in the small things; children's laughter, the smell of fresh cut grass, the funny little things that animals do, and a good game of solitaire.

In lieu of flowers, Mike wished for any contributions to go as donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
