Ms. Mildred Franklin Proffitt, age 90, of Mars Hill, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2023. She was born on November 19, 1932, in Madison County, to the late Grant and Ada Mace Franklin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Proffitt; her sister, Eula Wheeler; and two brothers, Taylor, and Ken Franklin.

Mildred is survived by 1 daughter, Christine Whitt (Bennie); 3 sons, Gary Proffitt (Wendy), Randy Proffitt (Doris), and Larry Proffitt (Debra); 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Mildred loved sewing and listening to bluegrass music on the radio. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Larry Proffitt and Steve Rhinehart will officiate. Burial will follow in the Laurelton Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm, at the funeral home prior to the service.
