Nita Bishop Rice, age 98, passed away Friday, April 26,2019 at Elderberry Health Care. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Matilda Wallin Bishop. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mack Rice; infant son, Dedrick Rice; sister, Susie Bishop Rice and two infant sisters; brother, Elmer Bishop; and a beloved nephew, DJ Bishop.

Mrs. Rice is survived by two sons, Carmon Rice (Viola) and Calvin Rice (Sondra) of Marshall; granddaughters, Tena Cole (Shawn) and Tracy Beck (Bill) of Weaverville; great grandsons, Elijah and Canaan Frisby, Billy and Andrew Beck of Weaverville; great grandchildren by marriage, Rachael and Zachary Cole of Weaverville; great great-granddaughter, Sadie Cole of Weaverville; beloved niece, Joyce Fender of Marshall; beloved grand-niece, Renee Dickinson of Ohio; beloved friends, physicians and the caring staff of the Elderberry Healthcare Center, Helen Moore, Mary Rice, Florence Metcalf, Howard Riddle, Dr. Schroeder, Dr. Bob and Dr. Stepp.

Visitation will be held 2:00 – 4:00PM Monday, April 29, 2019 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. A private graveside service will be held following visitation. Reverend Garland Rice will officiate. Great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
