Norman Ray Littrell, age 76 left his earth to walk on streets of gold Saturday, November 5th, 2016, after a hard fought battle with cancer. In this life, Norman wore many hats; husband, father, foster dad, to over 200 children, he coached little league baseball for many years, then became a certified umpire. He was a deacon at Piney Mountain Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his GOD, his family, and his friends of whom there were many. He had a special love for the Madison High School Football team, where you would find him cheering on his boys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Maude Marler Littrell; son, Randall Littrell; brothers, Roy Littrell Jr. and Harold Littrell: sisters Hazel Norton and Juanita Metcalf and 3 infant brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Metcalf Littrell; two daughters, Sharon Annette Robinson (Richard), Norma LouAnn Fredregill (Dan); seven sons, Ray Littrell (Connie), James Jones (Anna), Keith Littrell, Christopher Littrell, Carl Lee Littrell, Timmy Littrell and Elan Littrell; 12 grandchildren, Wesley Robinson (Sabrina), Matthew Robinson, Cotey and Aaron Littrell, Mykah, Stephen and Amelya Jones, Blaize, Kiarah, Cameron and Charlotte Littrell and Donovan Wallace. Also, Justin and Anna Ingle, whom he thought of as his own. Three sisters; Betty Jackson, Theresa Fisher and Kathy Young (Eddie); sister-in-law, Dorothy Littrell, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:30PM Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Piney Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, 150 Elkins Branch Road, Weaverville, NC. Reverends Steve Freeman, Mike Baldwin and Bud Marler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Refuge Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:00PM - 1:30PM prior to the service in the church.
