Paula Elaine Chandler Hensley, 72, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024. She was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the daughter of the late Shuford and Elsie Chandler. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Donnie and Tommy Chandler; sister-in-law, Betty Hensley; brothers-in-law, Roscoe and Russell Hensley, and Steve Gentry; and nephew, Shawn Chandler.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome Hensley; sister, Sandy Gentry; brothers, JR Chandler (Pat) and Larry Chandler; sisters-in-law, Billie Mason, Kathleen Hensley, and Sherry Chandler; special nephews, Justin Shook (Savannah) and Cody Shook (Karri); nieces and nephews, Steve Chandler (Jamie), Josh Gentry, Stephanie Rice (Scottie), Chrissy Chandler, Tracy Hanrahan (Brian), and Brandon Chandler (Ashley); special great nephews, James and Henry Shook; several great nieces and nephews; and two great great nieces that she loved dearly, Adelynn and Lacy Livingston and her dog, Bailey.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service. Pastor Brian Hanrahan will officiate. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Paula loved animals and had a special love for children. She helped raise generations of her family, was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for them.
