Phyllis Capps Sykes, 74, Weaverville, NC passed away August 9, 2026. She was the daughter of the late, Howard and Allie Mace Capps.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, Kenneth Hipps and Kevin Hipps (Amanda); sisters, Vicki Honeycutt (Gerald), Wilma Maxwell (Wendell) and Brenda George and grandchildren, Grant and Gracen Hipps.

She will be remembered for her extraordinary kindness, her warm and welcoming spirit, and the love she so freely gave to those around her. She truly never met a stranger, greeting people with a smile, a kind word, and often an affectionate "honey." She had a remarkable way of making people feel comfortable, accepted, and loved.

A lifelong reader with a curious mind, she understood that life-and people-could be complicated. She met both with compassion, forgiveness, and grace. Above all, she loved her family deeply and leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply in years, but in the countless lives she touched and the love she leaves behind.

Her family will remember her not only for who she was, but for how she made them feel: welcomed, understood, and loved. Her warmth, humor, kindness, and generous spirit will live on through all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, August 14, 2026, at Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service. Reverend Preston Riddle will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00pm prior to the service.
