William Preston Coffey, 71, of Mars Hill, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018. He was the son of the late Hershel and Beatrice Ballard Coffey and a lifelong resident of Madison County. In addition to his parents, Preston is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Jo Lunsford Herron; and an uncle, Bruce Phillips. Preston is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lora Herron Coffey; sister-in-law, Carol O'Neal (Gregg); brother-in-law, Ed Herron (Karen); father-in-law, Lew Herron; an aunt, Mildred Phillips; two nieces, Amy and Callie Hodge; and nephew, Brett Hodge. A graveside service will be held at 3pm Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Dr. Tommy Justus will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mildred Phillips and the staff of Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center for their loving care.
