Fox
May 30, 1942 – August 25, 2025
Preston C. Fox (a.k.a. "Lightning" to many of his friends), age 83, of Mars Hill went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2025 at Mission Hospital surrounded by his family. He was a native of Madison County and son of the late Horace and Sadie Sprinkle Fox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Grady Mundy and Van Proffitt and sisters-in-law Shelia Fox, Dixie Freeman Redding, Mildred Solesbee, Carolyn Wright, and Barbara Cogburn.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ramona Freeman Fox; sons ,Jeremy (wife Jenny) and Joel Fox; daughter, Michelle; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Mundy and Jeanette Proffitt; brother, Anthony Fox (wife Joyce); sisters-in-law, Edna June Freeman and Brenda Drake (husband Tim) and brother-in-law, David Freeman (wife Loretta); and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Preston was a member of Old Bull Creek Baptist Church where he served as song leader and deacon for many years. He was a proud veteran of the US Army Reserves and was active in the Weaverville Lions Club. He was employed for 42 years by Frontier Telephone Company as Central Office Technician and retired in 2012. The joy of his retirement was spending time with grandchildren Sadie, Trevor and Remington Fox.
Preston's family will receive friends Friday, August 29, 5:00-8:00 PM, at Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service in Mars Hill. His funeral will be held Saturday, August 30, 11:00 AM, at Old Bull Creek Baptist Church, Highway 213. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Kenneth Pack; good friend, Rev. Chad Edwards; brother, Rev. Anthony Fox; and son, Joel Fox. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
